Handelsbanken AB, Hong Kong Branch
Svenska Handelsbanken - the only Nordic bank in Hong Kong
Svenska Handelsbanken Asia provides a full range of corporate banking activities with emphasis on trade finance, cash management, investment credits, foreign exchange, money market and other treasury services, with particular attention given to Nordic-related business.
Svenska Handelsbanken (est. 1871) has its roots in Sweden, but today the bank sees itself as a Nordic bank, with the entire Nordic region (together with UK) as the home market. The bank currently has the most comprehensive branch network of any Nordic commercial bank. Furthermore there are wholly owned subsidiaries, branches and representative offices in some 20 locations worldwide.
The bank has been present in Asia for more than two decades. Before the Hong Kong branch was established in 1988, the bank operated in Hong Kong through a representative office that had been established in the mid-1970s. Since 1998 the Hong Kong branch is run together with the Singapore branch as a regional unit under one management. In addition to the branch office the bank has representative offices in Beijing and Taipei. In 2005 Svenska Handelsbanken opened a new branch in Shanghai and in 2006 the bank established a new representative office in Mumbai, India.
The policy of Svenska Handelsbanken is to be where its customers are, and the reason for our presence in the Asian region is the many present companies with strong Nordic ties. Among our customer you find many Nordic subsidiaries, but also local companies with Nordic trade or other Nordic connections.
The focus of Svenska Handelsbanken is to provide better service to lower cost and with higher return. We do this by providing a flexible and personal service and being focused on the customer instead of our products, and by having a very decentralised structure with a high level of local decisions.Senior Management
